Just got back to Cumbria after a week in Lossie from where we visited Chanonry 3 times and were lucky to see Moonlight and her new calf (Sunbeam, surely!!) and it was wonderful. I am sure some people do not realise that the dolphins are not there for humans but to be wild, free animals doing what they please when they please. Well done for reporting this incident. I am now going to find out where to write to oppose the Marina near Chanonry. (Personnaly I was angry that an ice-cream van was there yesterday!). Keep up the excellent work!

I just got the fabulous news about my girl Moonlight and her precious new calf! They are breathtaking, and Charlie, what a GREAT photo, really captivating. I'm so excited for her, and like I have said, I plan on making a trip there next year to see Moonlight, new baby beauty, and Charlie! Take care and best wishes to you Charlie. Hi,

I witnessed speed boats racing through whilst on holiday and have written to the government about this and the proposed marina. If they cannot police this then how the hell can they police 500 boats!

Hear hear Charlie, totally agree. These people should be ashamed of themselves.

Can you enlighten us to what the legal defination of harassment of dolphins actually is? I was aware this law existed but not sure of the details. I believe the more people that are aware of this law then the more pairs of eyes we'll have watching out for our dolphins, which can only be a good thing.

I'm lost for words! What is the matter with these people? We have been to Chanonry twice, seen plenty of dolphin action and all from the beach. I hope these people are caught and dealt with to the full extent of the law.

Starlight is a lovely name - thanks for the suggestion. I think that we might run a competition in the WDCS magazine or Pod News to name the new baby, keep looking at the blog and I'll post details about how you can enter. It might take me a long time to discover what gender Moonlight's baby is - there are some dolphins in the population that we just don't know. When I find out you will see it on this blog first!

The dolphins behave the same way at North Kessock as they do at Chanonry - rising tides. A bit quieter today with only 5 dolphins at NK but 11+ at Chanonry - very active too !

Seems typical that we are coming up to the Black Isle next Saturday and the dolphins are at Kessock. Are the sightings at Kessock affected by the tides as at CP ?

How wonderful! Our family adopted Moonlight when we came up to see the dolphins a few weeks ago: didn't see her (I don't think so anyway: we saw a few dolphins we couldn't identify, plus Kesslet, Charlie and Scoopy)but we're so pleased to hear about her calf. Maybe we'll see them another year. How about "Sky" as a name for the baby if you don't already have one?
